Statistics can be twisted to mean just about anything.
But here’s a simple fact about LinkedIn: It’s the best social media platform if your target market is other businesses.
Many more “leads” – people who want to work with you – are generated through LinkedIn than any other social media platform.
So if you’re an accountant, or marketing professional, or virtual assistant, or any number of other things then you really are missing out if you’re not on LinkedIn.
Here’s another simple fact: Lots of people find it a bit intimidating at first.
I know because I was one of them, until I learned how to use it properly.
Now it works brilliantly for me – and I can help it work brilliantly for you too.

It includes a 2,600-character ‘About’ section in which you get to tell people what you do, why they should work with you and how to get in touch.
It’s the first thing that people look at if you send them a connection request, or if they are thinking of connecting with you, or if you make an interesting comment on someone else’s post.
It’s where you get to stand and shout “Look at me! I’m great! You really should work with me!” although not in such an obvious way, hopefully.
If it’s good, it can win you business on its own.
If it’s not, it probably won’t.

A good LinkedIn post can lead directly to business, or at the very least an enquiry.
There is, however, a drawback.
Writing good LinkedIn posts on a regular basis – because you have to turn up regularly to exploit it fully – is a fine art. There’s a reason some posts have 283 comments and some precisely zero. It’s not just luck.
It’s also important to remember that just as a great post can win you great clients, an ill-judged post can lose you them too.
